NATA-2018 for admission into 1st year of 5-years B.Arch. at various Institutions in India for the academic session 2018-2019 will be conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) as one-day examination (paper based, OFFLINE) all over the country on 3rd week of April 2018.

WHO SHOULD TAKE NATA?

Prospective applicants desirous of taking admission to First year of undergraduate course in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture) in India should qualify NATA. NATA scores are used for admission to different Government, Govt. Aided & Unaided Schools / Colleges of Architecture, in addition to their scholastic performance in 10+2 or equivalent examination.

ELIGIBILITY FOR NATA 2018

• The lower age limit of the Candidate is 17 years as on 31-07-2018.
• 10+2 or equivalent passed/appearing with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
OR
• 10+3 Diploma (any stream) passed/appearing, after 10 years of schooling with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.


NATA REGISTRATION 2018

• Candidates can register for the NATA 2018 through online mode.
• The NATA 2018 Registration will begin from the 1st week of January 2018.
• Candidates can register till the 1st week of February 2018.
• There is no need to send the NATA application form through offline mode or by post.
• In case, candidates make any mistake in the application form, the correction window will be opened in the 3rd week of February 2018.


APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application has to be filled up ONLINE in 3 steps
• PERSONAL DETAILS (On completion and submission of this; system will generate an unique 7-digit Application Number),
• DOCUMENT UPLOADING (Recent passport size color photo, Left Thumb Impression, Signature) FEE PAYMENT (Rs. 1250/- plus service charges) at the NATA portal http://www.nata.nic.in and take a printout of CONFIRMATION PAGE generated upon successful fee payment.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE TEST?

Go to a nearest test centre (A list of test centers all over INDIA are available in www.nata.in or click on NATA Test Centers in India) and give them the following documents to register for the NATA Exams.
• Attested copy of Class X and XII mark lists.
• One recent passport size colour photograph, to be pasted on the registration form.
• Attested copy of any valid document of identification bearing photograph and signature of the candidate.
• Valid email address.

REGISTRATION FEE

• The registration fee is Rs. 1250 for all category candidates.
• Candidates can make payment through online using debit card/credit card/net banking.







NATA 2018 EXAM PATTERN

• Mode of Exam: The exam will be held through offline mode (pen paper based).
• Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
• Type of Question: The questions of Mathematics & General Aptitude will be Multiple Choice Questions.Total 60 questions from PART A.
• Total Marks: 200 marks.

NATA 2018 EVALUATION PATTERN

• Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, two marks will be awarded to the candidates in Mathematics & General Aptitude test.
• Negative Marking: No marks will be deducted for incorrect answer.

SUBJECTS FOR NATA 2018 EXAM

The question paper will comprise of three sections, i.e. Mathematics, Drawing & General Aptitude.



QUALIFYING MARKS FOR NATA 2018

• At least 25% must be secured in PART A - MCQ Portion (30 out of 120)
• At least 25% must be secured in PART B - Drawing Test (20 out of 80)
• Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics.
• Candidate will not qualify in NATA 2018 unless all the above 3 conditions are satisfied.

NATA 2018 EXAMINATION CONTENT

The test is in two parts. A paper based drawing test and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test. The test measures aptitude of the candidate through two sections - a paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity.

DRAWING TEST

This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt three questions. The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects -
• Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.
• Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.
• Sense of perspective drawing
• Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.
• Creating interesting two dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms.
• Creating visual harmony using colors in given composition.
• Understanding of scale and proportions.
• Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.

AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST

This is computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions. The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of -
• Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
• Visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects.
• Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities.
• Analytical reasoning.
• Mental Ability.
• Imaginative comprehension and expression.
• Architectural awareness.
