Passing Cloud

Passing cloud is an innovative and extremely leisure filling mode of transport. The project was submitted for the international ideas competition: Life at the Speed of Rail, organised by the Van Alen Institute and partly funded by the Department of Cultural Affairs of New York City. It drew inspiration from the olden Zeppelins. The project did not win the competition as it has 2 fundamental flaws associated with it.

1.        It is a slow means of transport

2.        It does not have a pre-fixed destination

Passengers could merely hop on the nylon covered balloon that has a steel skeleton and would be hoisted above the clouds where the natural wind would blow them. It can be used more like a ride rather than means of transport. The main advantage the project has is that does not require expensive steel tracks or concrete highways. It merely moves according to prevailing winds speed.
