Herzog & de Meuron has proposed for a new museum of visual culture rightfully named M+ at Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District. The 60,000-square-metre building is aimed to become one of the largest museums of modern world. The project has two main parts to it
• A semi-transparent tower
• A horizontal slab
The tower houses research centers, shops and restaurants while the horizontal slab would be the venue for exhibition galleries.
“This is a universal place with an inner organisation whose openness and transparency make it possible to link the complexities of the content and the space in many different ways. Through its specificity, it becomes a distinctive, singular and unmistakable piece of Hong Kong” said the Swiss firm.
