US Architecture firm Studio Gang has proposed a plan to transform the 30-acre waterfront on Memphis' Mississippi River to include a plant-covered viewing tower, bulbous stoney structures, and a gridded canopy for basketball. The initial aim of the project was to provide a connection between the river and the city. The pathway would be terraced, accessible pathway, featuring wide steps that can function as seats overlooking the water. It will also be maintained so as to also restore the natural ecology of the province. The structure will also draw inspiration from the historic designs previously built on the Memphis riverfront including terminal buildings such as grain elevators. An Architectural landmark will be placed at the bottom of the park, known as the Habitat Tower. The entire project is slated for completion in 2020.
