The Beijing-based studio Open Architecture is building a boulder shaped concert hall in a valley north of Beijing. The hall will be made from concrete mixed with an aggregate of crushed rocks and minerals. It will be sculpted with a hollow interior, designed to optimise sound quality during musical performances. The entire project will consist of an amphitheatre, an outdoor stage and several viewing platforms. The model is ideal for small gatherings and quiet contemplation, as well as large-scale musical performances. Digital modelling was done so as to integrate an unparalleled acoustic design as well. The gaps in the structure will not let the outside noise enter the structure. The entirety of the project will be helmed by Architects Li Hu and Huang Wenjing.
Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the Top Architectural Colleges in Tamil Nadu we help our students broaden their horizons by educating them on projects that think outside the box.
