From Fuel Containers to Art Galleries

Chinese studio open Architecture has transformed former Longhua airport in Shanghai into an art and cultural Park by making use of five aviation fuel containers. The former industrial site which spaned 60000 square metres have now been reincarnated through art in a new era of City Development. Two of the tanks are now art galleries. One has been crafted into a white cube while the other maintains its original interior surface. Three other tanks are now being used for multifunctional exhibits. The newly constructed ground level provides undulating green spaces and squares above, which seamlessly connects all the tanks placed below. These transformations thoughtfully preserve the original features of the tanks.

Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the Top Architectural Colleges in Tamil Nadu we help our students broaden their horizons by educating them on projects that think outside the box.
